The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa will allow you to work for a maximum period of two years in the UK and experience life in the UK, it replaced the former Working Holiday Visa.
You can apply for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa if you are between the ages of 18 to 30 and you are from:
- New Zealand
- Hong Kong
- Republic of Korea
You can also apply if you’re 18 to 30 and a:
You cannot apply if:
- You have children who live with you
- You have children you’re financially responsible for
- You have already been in the UK under the scheme or in the former ‘working holidaymaker’ category
To apply for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa you must have £1,890 in savings.
An Entry Clearance requirement for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme Visa is necessary. This is because it comes under the points-based system (a system used to classify various visa applications in the UK). Those coming to this country on this basis can do any work that complies with the UK and European Union laws, however, they cannot work as a professional sportsperson, including a sports coach, a doctor or a dentist in training and cannot use public funds. There must also register with the police if required to do so by paragraph 326 of the immigration rules.
Self-employment is only permitted on the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme if the applicant is not the owner of premises where they do business other than their home, although they may rent premises for the purpose of self-employment. Furthermore, the total value of the equipment they use in their business should not be more than £5000 and they should have no other employees. The idea is not to make a self-employment issue as uncomplicated as possible, having regard to the nature of the temporary visa.
