Case Study 3: Business Immigration – Switch from Student to Work
Permit Holder
Miss B, a citizen of India, came to the UK with entry clearance as a student.
She wanted to enter into full time employment and was advised that unless she
obtained a UK degree or recognised MBA she could not switch. She then pursued
an MBA course and passed her examinations.
An application for a work permit was made on behalf of Miss B by her employers
to work for a busy dental practice as their practice manager, the position requiring
not only previous management experience, but fluency in spoken and written Hindi
and Gujarati to serve clients in the particular catchment area. She was able
to switch as a UK graduate into full time employment under the Home Office policy
on switching.
